Rian Satterwhite is an inaugural member and graduate with distinction of the a four year leadership development program at University of Arizona called Blue Chip program. He was also awarded the first Blue Chip Heart and Soul Award, something given to just one graduate of each cohort. While at the University of Arizona he assembled and completed an Interdisciplinary Studies Bachelor degree specializing in Leadership.
Rian has been an active member of the International Leadership Association since 2002 and co-presented at the Annual ILA Conference in Washington D.C. in November, 2004. He has also participated in a national session of LeaderShape, Inc. in 2003 and in spring 2004 acted as the Site Coordinator for the first LeaderShape session at the University of Arizona .
Upon graduation from the University of Arizona in December of 2004, Rian was offered a position at the University of Wollongong in Australia to start a partner leadership development program called the Black Opal Leadership Program. While at the UOW he coordinated Black Opal through its first three years of growth and also completed his Masters in Educational Leadership. In 2007, Black Opal was named the best student development program in the country by the Association of College Union Managers of Australia (ACUMA). Black Opal and Blue Chip have an ongoing partnership with regular exchange of curriculum, programming, students, and potentially in the future, staff. In January 2008, Rian began as an Assistant Director of the Center for Student Leadership at Kennesaw State University . |
